HI, MY NAME IS KIPCHA!
Name: Kipcha
Breed: Basset hound Beagle mix
Age: Three years
Pack: Hirruk
Rank: Baroness
Gender: Female
Appearance:
Kipcha's head is draped in wrinkles showing the basset hound side in her, her ears about as long as the purebred basset hound but have taken on the shape of a long triangle like her beagle father. Large spots of black cover over her mainly white, short haired coat while a variety of light and dark brown blotches and speckles overlap across her wide-shouldered body. Her tail reaches up past her head and atop that long tail sits a little white dot, resembling a paintbrush.
Kipcha's legs reach out longer than that of the basset hound's but much shorter than that of the beagle, making her a... shorter dog, much shorter than many of the dogs around her. Her paws are square and bulky making her stumble at times, but come in handy in the deep snow of winter being that if she didn't have these wide paws she might just sink. Jowls hang from her lips and skin pulls and sags on her body but not hard enough to droop her eyes and create large wrinkles and dewlaps over her head. The rest of her anatomy has tighter skin but wrinkles still appear over her broad shoulders and build.
Personality:
Kipcha is a pretty happy-go-lucky dog, but she tries very hard to be, well, a dog pleaser probably one of the reasons why she ended up a Baroness. She has a low self esteem and tries to hide it by appeasing the Czarina, Vivid. Because of her size and odd looks is she usually very humble to dogs in a higher rank.
When she gets the very, very rare chance to see another adult dog under the tripping feet of taller dogs who fail to notice the small dog peering up, Kipcha often likes to stand near them and, if she gets the chance, talk to them eye-to-eye. Sadly, little does Kipcha know it, she is often intimidating to the small dog she is looking at, for from their view she is a massive-shouldered strong dog with an arching tail with unusual wrinkles and flaps.
History:
Palla, Kipcha's mother, was a spoil at one point, from the Ashati. It was hard for her to move into another entirely different pack not only because the Ashati and the Hirruks were in major conflict, but she would have to give up her superstitious and religious customs. Despite all of this Palla had slowly over the years become a lowly servant and a bit of a pitiful sight with her droopy ears and saggy eyes. But somehow she managed to win the hearts of some commanders and became a family slave, a better life than digging around to find food and being kicked around. Bruiser was a bit better off than Palla, he was slowly making his way up and proving his loyalty bit by bit after he had been flung from his warrior rank down to become a servant. His life was shaken from his rank after badly wounding an Advisor thinking that she was an enemy from the Ashati pack. Now, he lived a servant's life, a respected servant, but a servant none the less.
Every day Palla would drag the rotten uneaten food her assigned family no longer wanted to a pile that stood high with old rotten food from other family servants. Having the rank of a servant, Bruiser also took old food that dogs no longer wanted to this pile, and of course look for any extra food he could find from the higher ranking dogs who as Bruiser would mumble, "Too good to eat all your darn food when others are a starvn'!" Then Bruiser noticed something while he was nosing around for food, a little burrow, made in the back of the rotten food, it wasn't deep and it wasn't wide, it was small just a dent in the side. When he looked inside he saw little trinkets of gold and shinny things. He was impressed, he decided to wait and see who this dog was. He waited until it was the time when most of the slave dogs come to drop off their old food. Dogs came, glanced at him wondering what in the world he was doing crouching around the garbage, for most dogs come drop their food off and leave as quick as possible, for the stench would make any dog's eyes water and nose scream for clean air. Soon dogs started clearing out and none of them even looked in the direction of the hidden indent in the rotting food. Then out came Palla with some trash he was about to leave when he saw her putting away her garbage one by one, waiting for him to leave. As she removed a bone from a piece of old cloth, something caught the light and was shinning brightly at him as if to say, "Here I am!" He smiled and walked up to the short floppy dog, With his head down to be more at her level.
Palla lifted her head, startled, was that a full fledged warrior walking up to her? She picked up her head to match his eye level, as if to say she wasn't afraid. She braced herself to be yelled at for taking so long to throw her old food in the pile. As soon as he opened his mouth she realized that this dog was not going to hurt her. Palla was soothed by his kind words and funny jokes, and Bruiser, although to most dogs a basset hound may not look very alluring or attractive, he was in love as soon as she made eye contact with him. They talked and soon became the best of friends, she showed him her collection, and Bruiser decided to add a little something to it each week to show his affection for her. At first it was just a trinket here and a shinny thing here, but as his love grew he began to find things that were large and beautiful. The dent in the rotten food grew and grew, deeper and deeper as did their love. So much that Bruiser, who was going to move up to a family slave a week ago moved down to a lowly slave because he was so detracted, like a pup in love.
Palla learned of her pregnancy and immediately told Bruiser of this wonderful news. Which of course didn't help with Bruiser's concentration. Then, one day Bruiser was gazing off thinking about the future, what would his puppies look like? Would they have long ears and droopy jowls like their mother? Or would they be tall and slim like him? Then he stopped, was he going to let his puppies grow up as lowly servants? He sat up, and started working instead of daydreaming about his family he put his thoughts into action. Slowly he worked up, until finally he was a family servant. Better than a starved lowly servant.
Months went by and finally looking at Palla anyone could see she was close to birth. Finally it was time. It was night and when hard-working Bruiser came home Palla would not let him in their little wood cover which they called home. Bruiser new what was happening he couldn't sleep. After a hard day it is challanging not to drift off to sleep. But not tonight. Tonight he stood guard. Morning came and Bruiser falling over with exhaustion and worry. A faint voice came from down in their little wooden burrow. Bruiser peeked in and Palla reassured him with a little happy whine. He took a step forward, nervous he would step on something, and as he did so images of puppies flew through his mind but he knew that it wouldn't matter what they looked like as long as they were their's. He stopped, letting his eyes adjust to the dim light. Then he saw Palla in a corner nursing their puppies, shafts of light were starting to pool on the packed down dirt. And among them was a puppy who would come to be known as Kipcha. Their eyes were shut tight and they were suckling vigorously squeaking and whining all the way. Their backs were all white with black spots and very faint brown spots that would eventually turn darker and send out brown speckles. Palla was smiling at the three beautiful puppies along with bruiser. But little did the new parents know at the time that one of them was ill, so ill that he wouldn't live for more than a month. As the family slowly grew and the puppies opened their eyes their parents ranks wouldn't budge, if any they would go down. And so Kipcha along with her brother grew up in poverty, getting kicked around most of the time, which shaped a large part of her personality. Although in poverty Kipcha became great friends with a future Czarina, of course she had no clue what rank her friend was in for if she did know there was no way the nervous lowly servant would even talk to such a high ranking dog.
